Fly Fishing

With 30 miles of well-stocked freestone trout streams, Cherokee is a fisherman's paradise. Our catch and release trophy waters were the site of the 2011 U.S. National Fly Fishing Championship. Tribal waters (PDF map) are now open for fishing year around. No license is required to fish in Reservation waters, however a tribal permit is required. More info

Indian Storytelling
At the Bonfire

Every Friday and Saturday evening throughout the summer, Cherokee storytellers relate tales of Indian lore around the bonfire. Kids roast marshmallows and you might be invited to join a Cherokee Friendship Dance. 7-9 pm at Island Park.


With many shops offering genuine native American art and crafts, Cherokee offers a unique shopping experience. More info.

National Park
Visitor Center

Don't miss the Visitors Center at the Cherokee entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A new museum focuses on the Smokies rich cultural history, from the Cherokee 'early people' to the European Settlers to the creation of the National Park. More info.
