With a grand opening scheduled for early September 2009, the Sequoyah National Golf Club in Cherokee offers an innovative world-class golf course with stunning views of the Great Smoky Mountains. The tree-lined course was designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II, along with design consultant and Native American golf pro Notah Begay III. The course features integrated iconic images with views of the majestic Clingmans Dome peak, the Snowbird Mountain range and the historic Thomas Valley.

While the beauty of the area speaks for itself, the 18-hole, par 72 championship course will be considered the most dynamic golf course in Western North Carolina when it opens to the public in September 2009. Designed at 6,700 yards from the back tees, the course offers five sets of tees to challenge every level of player. The clubhouse, set atop a hill, will have direct access off U.S. Highway 441.

Owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the course has been in the construction process for a little over a year, implementing state-of-the art design techniques such as the Rain Bird irrigation systems developed to apply water efficiently.
